A dozen cupcakes with 12 different designs…these are just a few of the simple decorations I am able to do. They are very simple to do, but gorgeous! Why decorate your cupcakes all in the same design, when you can have a variety of designs to create a visual impact! Have a look at my FLICKR for a detailed look at the individual cupcakes.

Red Roses & Chocolate 0

img_6639I was inspired by a photo I saw of roses laid out on a chocolate satin sheet and thought to myself I could create an equally img_6638decadent cake creation. The result – a chocolate covered fondant cake topped with lucious red fondant roses. An elegant looking cake for an elegant event.

NEW: Chocolate Sour Cream Frosting 0

This frosting was unbelievably tasty – not that I doubted for a second it wouldn’t be. For those img_6627who aren’t too fond of sweet frostings, this is the perfect one you. It has the same consistency as a ganache frosting, but without being too sweet. In saying that, if you prefer to cutback on the sweetness, I would recommend you use a chocolate with a high percentage of cocoa.

Before cutting this cake you should take it out of the fridge for a couple of minutes so it softens up. The great thing about this frosting is that it will not melt all over the place. And most of all it tastes sooooooooooo good with any type of cake! A defiante must EAT…

Happy Birthday to my dearest… 1

It was my husband’s birthday a few days ago and I tried out a new chocolate cake recipe. It was the bimg_6615est chocolate cake (in my humble opinion) I have ever had! Now I know the decoration is pretty boring, but what it lacked it visual impact, it sure made up with taste.

Matcha…in honour of St Patrick’s Day 0

Posted on March 17, 2009 by tamana

Now I know what you are thinking, matcha powder in honour of St Patrick’s Day? It’s definately a fusion of two cultures, but it’s green!

I’ve been wanting to use matcha powder for a while and this was a good excuse to try. What is matcha? It’s a fine powdered green tea, which is used in Japanese tea ceremonies. Matcha is what I used to make the marbled part of this butter cake.

This turned out to be very moist with just enough of a hint of the matcha powder. I decided not to frost it, but if I did I would use a vanilla buttercream frosting.

Sugar cookies are so much fun to make – not to mention how good they taste. You can do so much with them in terms of decorations.

I promised my students I would make them something in the last week of term so I decided to make them shaped in stars and smiley faces! I think the smiley faces look adorable. Let me tell you they went down a treat and were a great incentive to get them all talking!

Sugar cookies (which can be cut in any shape) can be used as a great party or wedding favour.
